Northumberland County Council - Profile Page
Our headquarters are located at County Hall, on the edge of the pleasant Northumberland market town of Morpeth, approximately 15 miles to the north of Newcastle upon Tyne. The majority of our 14,500 employees are deployed in schools, offices and homes throughout the county.
Northumberland is a great place to live and the County Council provides an exciting and challenging place to work where talent, hard work and commitment are rewarded. As one of the leading employers in the region we offer a wide selection of job opportunities in a broad range of disciplines.
We provide key services to the communities of Northumberland covering key areas such as children’s services, libraries, adult services, highways maintenance, planning, countryside and economic development. Working for the council not only offers great career prospects but it also means you can put something back in to the community.
We are always keen to hear from jobseekers from all walks of life. We believe our workforce should reflect the community we serve and whatever your race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or age we would like you to apply.
Northumberland County Council staff deliver a range of services to communities throughout the region. We are keen that our workforce reflects the communities that it serves and actively encourage applications from all sectors.
Our policies ensure we provide diversity and equality in employment. No job application or employee receives less favourable treatment than another on the grounds of gender, marital status, race, disability, religion or beliefs, sexual orientation, age or any other factor unrelated to the requirements of the job.
We try to maximise opportunities for people to work flexibly and offer part time, term-time only, job share, seasonal work and annualised hours where appropriate. We believe helping employees achieve the right work-life balance is good for business, so don’t let family commitments, religious practices or other issues stop you from having a rewarding career with us.
We welcome applications from people with disabilities and run a guaranteed interview scheme for all disabled applicants who meet the essential job criteria. We will give you every opportunity to tell us about any provisions you need us to make in advance of the interview. As your employer we will make any reasonable adjustments required within the work environment.
