Nortumberland Jobs and Opportunities

Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council - Profile Page

Quality not Quantity

“Northumberland is one of the most richly rewarding counties of England in which to live and work. Situated at its northern corner, the Borough of Berwick-upon-Tweed concentrates everything that is special about the County... wide open spaces, superb scenery, a breathtaking coastline and majestic castles.

The borough of Berwick-upon-Tweed is the northern-most borough in England. The borough is bordered to the north and west by Scotland and to the east by the North Sea and Alnwick District to the South, covering a mainly rural area of 370 square miles.

Council staff deliver services from primarily two locations within Berwick-upon-Tweed: the main office base is at Wallace Green within the historic walls, and a Depot located in Tweedmouth on the south side of the River Tweed. The Council employs just over 150 staff, but sub-contracts some of it’s environmental maintenance services.

Quality of life, excellent leisure and sporting facilities and within easy travel distances of the Tyneside and Edinburgh conurbations make Berwick a good place to live and work. Because of size, there are inevitably restricted opportunities for career progression, but this is more than compensated by the opportunity to gain a wider than normal range of relevant experience within your chosen field, which is a very marketable commodity.
